A whole group of work of that period is distinguished by cheerfulness and major sounding. The summer mood in the painting Flowering June (1985) is created by colorful combinations of lilac, white and orange tones and minute, differently directed brush strokes against the background of grass, which convey the diversity of wild flowers, their inexplicable charm. In that period, the artist chose upright format more often to add liveliness and intensify the feeling of joy. On the painting To Spring. The Road to Bialynkavichy (1991), the author showed the places familiar to him from childchood, the road he had walked to school. Changes and the near coming of spring are felt in the depicted state of nature. This rejoicing in the upcoming spring renewal is created by bright colors, rhythm of vertical lines of trees with white trunks against the background of the strikingly blue sky, by spots of light and shadow on the snow and a road running inward. In 1991, A. S. Barkhatkou was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Belarus. By that time he was a participant of numerous exhibitions in Belarusian cities, in Moscow, in Romania, Italy, Holland. His sons-artists participated in some of them with him. Personal exhibitions of A. S. Barkhatkou also took place: some in Minsk, in Mahiliou, Kastsiukovichy. In 1996,1 International Plein Air in Memory of V. K. Bialynitsky-Birulya took place in Mahiliou area, Anton Stefanavich being its honorary guest. II International Plein Air was held in a year, the artist participated in it again. It is difficult to imagine the development of Belarusian landscape painting of the second half of the 20th century without A. S. Barkhatkou s creative work. The artist lived a long, challenging and interesting life marked by constant creative search. He was devoted to art, worked a lot and painted landscapes finding inspiration in beauty, in native Belarusian lands and in nature of the central part of Russia. A. S. Barkhatkou was fascinated by nature all his life, that’s why his works and feelings expressed in them cannot leave viewers indifferent. His paintings are presented in various collections, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Minsk, in other museums of Belarus and also in the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, in a number of other collections, including private collections in our country and abroad. The National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus keeps 17 paintings by Anton Barkhatkou.
