The British Post Office has given clearance for the carriage of newspapers and parcels, but expresses reservations about letters unless it can be established that they are carried at the request and under the orders of the sender. This can be achieved, I think, by affixing a small instruction sticker signed by the sender: “BZP Private Messenger for (signature of sender).” I am in correspondence with several American philatelists who are interested in Byelorussian stamps. Also Stanley Gibbons Catalogue are asking me to write a short note for inclusion in their catalogue on “Asobny Atrad BNR.” There does appear to be a growing interest in Byelorussian postage particular since it became known that the BSSR also produced “provisional” stamps in 1921-1922. We may yet see Byelorussia properly treated - at least among philatelists!

I thought you might be interested to receive greetings from Zagreb with a few specimens of stamps.

The Congress has been going very well. Professor McMillin and Shirin Akiner are reading papers on Byelorussian subjects and a Ukrainian from Munich has (presented? - illegible, R. Z.-H.) a paper on Maxim Bahdanovic and Ukrainian Literature. Fr. Nadson is also here staying at the Theological Institute. He is proving a great success with the Scholars from Minsk such as Naumienka, Biryla, Adamovic and Suprun. I was able to buttonhole Professor Sudnik, a member of the International Committee of Slavists (he is staying in this hotel), and asked him whether it was not high time to “rehabilitate” Ales Harun, since this persistant “boycotting” of an excellent poet was becoming something of a laughingstock among Slavists. He made a note of my remarks, though whether for the AN-BSSR or some other Committee I know not. We shall see^
The weather is hot, the food (indigestable? - illegible, R. Z.-H.), but the company excellent. We are having a most enjoyable time.

B.N.R. Jubilee Post
I enclose for your reference herewith a number of the recently printed stamps of the Bielaruskaja Zamieznaja Posta, including those which have been overprinted for use as a commemorative issue of the B.N.R. These letters are, as you know, a very limited issue: it has not yet been decided on what three days the service will make use of them, though two likely dates are the Slucak Uprising and Christmas.
B.Z.P. Dispatch Co. has been officially registered as a delivery service with the Registrar of Business names in London under the number RBN2305515. A number of additional postal stationery (stickers, postcards, envelopes) items will shortly be

made available. Insofar as the stamps are concerned, a double quantity of the brown/red 5-hr. has been produced as the printers failed to adhere to colour specifications; the first run was a dull brown instead of a brick or chestnut red, as you see from the enclosed specimens.
Among the sheets you will find three cancelled “par complaisance,” as they say, to illustrate the postmarks of the London (60 Quentin Road SE13), Dublin (28 Exchequer Street 2) and Paris (65 rue des Gravillieres) offices of BZP. I enclose also a draft of a notice relating to the nature of the service offered. If you think it appropriate, perhaps you could pass it on to Dr. Stankievic for gazetting in “Bielarus.” A number of deliveries was effected at the Zagreb Congress, either through couriers, or by courier and ordinary post. It may be some time before any publicity is achieved.
In the meantime, may I request you to return to me one of the sheets of stamps, with the BNR overprint, duly cancelled with the official seal of the Byelorussian Rada in exile as a record of your approval? I should be grateful.

B.Z.P. DISPATCH COMPANY, otherwise BIELARUSKAJA ZAMIEZNAJA POSTA is a duly registered business enterprise which came into being in May 1978, and commenced its activities officially on 19th August of that year.
The objects of the enterprise are to provide a service for the delivery of parcels, packages, newspapers, circulars, and suject to certain conditions, private messages or letters, in particular between Byelorussian organizations and individuals resident overseas. B.Z.P. aims to maintain the tradition of an indepen-

dent postal delivery service, subject to local legal restrictions imposed to preserve national postal monopolies.
The enterprise has its registered office in London (Great Britain) at 60 Quentin Road, London SE13. It has subsidiary offices in Dublin (Eire) and Paris (France). Deliveries are effected by courier, or by a combination of courier and local postal services at the user’s option. Delivery charges are fixed in accordance with a scale, details of which are available on application to the Company’s registered office. Receipt stamps are affixed to any item carried as evidence of payment by the sender of the appropriate delivery charge.

Міла й цікава было атрымаць ад Вас ліст з Загрэбу, з 8-га Міжнароднага Кангрэсу Славістых ды першыя ла-стаўкі марак Беларускай Замежнай Пошты.
Факты, што на Кангрэсе былі чытаны працы на бела-рускія тэмы ня толькі славістамі з Менску, але й з Англіі, ды што ў Кангрэсе бралі ўдзел беларусы й прыяцелі бела-русаў з за мяжы, для нас бязумоўна важныя й карысныя. Прафэсар Суднік напэўна быў, магчыма й прыемна, ура-жаны тым, што беларуская літаратура й беларускія пісь-меньнікі знаходзяць зацікаўленьне, а то й падтрымку, у ангельцаў. Добра, што беларускія вучоныя зь Менску мелі сутык з айцом Надсонам. Карысьць з гэтага для абоіх ба-коў, а перадусім для Менчукоў.
